If you don't know who the problem is in your four-ball... it's probably you!

Every golf group is different.

Different handicaps.
Different personalities.
Different levels of golfing ability.

But somehow, every single golf group on earth contains the exact same characters.

You could play in Durban, Dublin, Dubai or Dallas.

You'll still find these people.

At Swing Daddy, we've spent years studying this phenomenon.

Mostly from the cart with a cold beer. Here's what we've discovered!

1. The Rules Lawyer

This guy knows every rule.

Every single one.

He'll appear from nowhere to explain:

  • Embedded ball relief
  • Lateral hazards
  • Wrong greens
  • Temporary obstructions

Meanwhile the rest of the group is just trying to find Steve's ball.

His favourite phrase: "Actually, according to the rules..."

Nobody likes that phrase.

2. The Lost Ball Specialist

Arrives with:

  • Three dozen golf balls
  • Complete confidence
  • No fear

Leaves with:

  • Two golf balls
  • Emotional damage
  • A score he refuses to discuss

This guy can lose a ball in the middle of a fairway. It's actually impressive.

3. The Swing Coach

Shoots 103.

Offers lessons to everyone.

Every round includes:

"You're standing too close."

"You're coming over the top."

"Try what I do."

Nobody wants to try what you do, Craig. We saw the front nine.

4. The Cart DJ

This man believes he's performing at a music festival.

The entire day depends on:

  • His playlist
  • His mood
  • His questionable taste in music

Good DJ:
Elite golf day.

Bad DJ:
Longest 18 holes of your life.

5. The Sandbagger

The rarest and most mysterious species in golf.

Claims: "I'm playing terribly lately."

Then proceeds to shoot 78.

Nobody has ever seen this man play badly.

6. The Angry Golfer

Golf appears to be causing him physical pain.

Signs include:

  • Deep sighing
  • Club slamming
  • Staring aggressively at golf balls
  • Swearing at inanimate objects

The golf course could be paradise itself.

He's still furious.

7. The Miracle Golfer

This golfer is fascinating.

He'll:

  • Slice three drives
  • Chunk two irons
  • Miss a 2-footer

Then suddenly hit:

  • A 280m bomb
  • A perfect flop shot
  • A 50-foot putt

Just enough brilliance to keep him coming back.

Golf's greatest trap.

8. The Beer Manager

The real MVP.

Knows:

  • How many beers are left
  • Where the halfway house is
  • When the cart girl is due
  • Emergency beer reserve locations

Without this person, society collapses. Protect him at all costs.

9. The Guy Who Finds Every Excuse

Nothing is ever his fault.

Not once.

Reasons for bad shots include:

  • Wind
  • Grass
  • Clouds
  • Sun
  • Temperature
  • Cart path positioning
  • Planetary alignment

Never his swing.

Not even once.

10. The Tour Captain

Golf's unsung hero.

Organises:

  • Tee times
  • Accommodation
  • Payments
  • Pairings
  • Dinner bookings

Receives:

  • Zero thanks
  • Endless complaints

Somehow gets blamed for:

  • Rain
  • Slow play
  • Lost luggage
  • Bad bounces

The Tour Captain deserves a medal. Or at least a free beer.

Bonus Character: The Guy Reading This

Let's be honest.

You've already identified:

  • Three mates
  • Your regular four-ball
  • Somebody from your golf tour

And you've definitely thought: "That one is 100% Dave."

The uncomfortable question is - Which one are you?

The Official Swing Daddy Conclusion

Every golf group needs all of these characters.

Without them:

  • The stories aren't as funny
  • The tours aren't as memorable
  • The rounds aren't as entertaining

Because golf isn't really about perfect swings. It's about:

  • Good mates
  • Bad decisions
  • Unsolicited advice
  • Lost balls
  • Cold beers
  • And having someone to laugh at when they take three shots to get out of a bunker

That's the real beauty of the game. And if you're lucky enough to have all 10 in your golf group... you're a lucky man!

Even if none of you can break 90.
